Nationwide test of Emergency Alert system on Sunday 23 April at 3pm
Nationwide test of Emergency Alert system on Sunday 23 April at 3pm. The UK Government is launching a new life-saving Public Emergency Alerts system in the UK, which will give the Government and emergency services the capability to send an alert directly to mobile phones when there is a risk to life. Alert systems such as this are already successfully used across the world and save lives. The system went live on Sunday 19 March and you may have heard that there will be a national test of the new system at 3pm on Sunday 23 April, which will consist of a loud, siren-like sound and vibration on mobile phones for up to 10 seconds. Our aim is to alert the country to this and reassure them that no action needs to be taken.
