MCC Update November 2021

Further to last month’s update, we are delighted to announce that a favourable Concept Design for Mayfield’s Community Centre has been selected from the final options produced by the architects appointed by Wealden District Council (WDC).

This Concept Design meets the Architects Brief and, by using the sloping plot to full advantage, the Health Centre is now neatly positioned under the Community Centre to the rear North East of the site. This will also allow for cost reductions which enable the estimated overall building cost to come within an affordable budget.

The Concept Design will not encroach on the existing grass recreational area of Court Meadow and will be sited in the area currently occupied by the existing Memorial Hall and the car parks. It allows for a 700 square metre Community Centre and 350 square metre Health Centre along with additional parking spaces. Other facilities include a community hub (for people to meet and socialise), two meeting rooms, offices including one for MAYFACS, a well-appointed kitchen, ample storage area, toilets and patio area. The hall itself can be divided by sliding doors to accommodate different size meetings and events.

We are now in the process of jointly commissioning the necessary surveys with WDC and awaiting final amendments to the Concept Design from the architects. Once the final design is approved by the joint WDC/ Parish Council Project Sponsor Board, we will present the Concept Design to Mayfield and Five Ashes residents when there will be the opportunity for any feed-back to be provided.

Details of the dates will be made available on the village website, Facebook, via posters and the Newsletter.  Relevant information will also be published on the MCC section of the Parish Council website www.mayfieldfiveashes.org.uk
