MCC Update – August 2023

Following the local Parish Council election in May, a fresh Mayfield & Five Ashes Parish Council Community & Health Centre project team (MCC Committee) has been formed to pro-actively drive forward the construction of the new building which is to be located at the top of Court Meadow.

The team comprises seven Parish Councillors, the Council Clerk, two lay members and an independent, advisory Project Surveyor who proffer their individual skill sets and who are dedicated to bringing the project to fruition as soon as possible.

Cllr Chris Lilly is the newly appointed Chairman of the MCC committee and Chairman for Finance and General Purpose. Chris has a wealth of knowledge having worked on developing the project on a local level for many years as well as working with the previous project board involving Wealden District Council (WDC). Ian Parker, newly appointed Chairman of Mayfield & Five Ashes Parish Council, sits on the MCC committee while newly appointed Cllr Paul Jarvis has agreed to the role of Project Director. Other special advisory roles include Cllr Andrew Ratcliffe for Finance, Cllr Joel Marlow for IT & Security and Access Control, Cllr Howard Blakebrough for the Health Centre element and Cllr Andrew Burnett for Market Analysis. James Lench is on the Committee as a lay member.

The Committee’s intentions are to become more closely involved with the design process,. This involves pursuing an affordable and viable way forward via a ‘design and build’ contract procured as part of a framework agreement. It will involve modern methods of construction to a high sustainable and environmental standard, which also permit the shortest possible construction timeframe.

There are many preliminary actions going on behind the scenes and we will report further on these as soon as possible.
