Mayfair update
There is a great deal happening at the Mayfair this year. As well as the delights and skills of traditional Maypole dancing (with Mayfield and Five Ashes primaries schools, Mayfield Pre-school, Mayfield School, Skippers Hill, Bricklehurst and Pembury all taking part), the Green Man (who will it be this year?), the Crowning of the May Queen, the Morris Men, the Mummers and Mayfield Band, we have additional music from The Celestials plus Blacksmith, Ponies and Penalty Shoot Out among other attractions.
There are 29 stalls displaying all sorts of wares and produce as well as showing off the range of organisations in the village. The silent auction has lots to offer from nights in a four-poster bed to gym membership and tickets to local attractions – there is even the chance to bid for auction items online.
The food and drink on offer has tacos, burritos, seafood and wine in addition to the ever popular BBQ, Hog Roast, Pimms, strawberries & cream and ice cream.
Buy the May edition of the newsletter for a programme and vouchers with offers from the High Street shops, and have a look at the mayfieldmayfair.com website for full details of stalls, attractions and the silent auction.
Please come and support the Mayfair – and join in the Big Dance at the end when we will try to beat last year’s record of 56 people dancing round the Maypole at the same time.
We’re just hoping for the weather to be good – and working on a plan B for indoor dancing if there is too much rain.
