Disruption to Waste Collections

Due to the snow and ice we regret to advise that waste collections have been disrupted.

The majority of main roads that have been gritted are passable however many untreated smaller roads in town and rural areas, particularly in the north of Wealden, have a covering of ice. Whilst these roads may be passable with care for smaller vehicles, such conditions are not safe to for the collection vehicles weighing up to 26 tonnes which can cause significant damage in the event of an accident.

Please be assured we are making every effort to complete collections where possible. All crews are collecting today in locations that are safely accessible and assessments of road conditions will be made throughout the day as conditions improve.

Collections may therefore be made at a different time than normal today but in some locations they may not happen. If your road or area is not collected today you do not need to contact us as arrangements will be made to return and empty bins where they have been missed as the conditions improve.

These collections will focus initially on refuse bins followed by recycling and then garden waste and we kindly ask that you leave missed bins out at the normal collection point in readiness to be emptied.

Wealden District council and Kier apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused and thank you for you cooperation and understanding.
