Five Ashes is an attractive small village situated on the A267 between Mayfield and Heathfield. It is part of the parish of Mayfield and Five Ashes and set in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Beauty (AONB) with its beautiful countryside and marvellous opportunities for walking and riding.
With its friendly welcome it is an ideal place to visit and stay if you are interested in exploring the countryside, seeing the local towns and villages steeped in history or enjoying the local pubs and restaurants or sampling the many different family and cultural activities nearby.
Come at the right time of year and you can also enjoy one of the special local cultural events such as the Mayfield Festival, the Mayfair, the Bonfire Parade, the Fringe Festival or the Mayfield Art Trail
From a base in Mayfield and Five Ashes, it is also only a short drive to historic towns like Royal Tunbridge Wells and Lewes; to Bodiam Castle and Battle Abbey; to the spectacular Seven Sisters and the South Downs National Park; to wonderful gardens at Sheffield Park and Groombridge; to the seaside; to Glyndebourne; to family attractions such as the Bluebell Railway, Llama Park and Drusilla's Zoo Park; to outdoor activities at Bewl Water and Bowles; and many other varied attractions.
Five Ashes does not have any retail outlets of its own apart from Paragon Porsche dealership but it does have a local pub, the Five Ashes Inn and local B&Bs. Mayfield High Street is only 2 miles away with its historic buildings and selection of interesting shops and you are also in easy reach of Royal Tunbridge Wells, Lewes and the seaside at Eastbourne.
